- Vehicle was pressure tested to determine source of coolant leak as coolant was very low in the reservoir. Leak is coming from the shaft bearing of the water pump. Recommend replacement of serpentine belt due to soaking with coolant. Water pump must be replaced. Also recommend engine block testing after repairs are made to rule out possible damage to head gasket as it was reported that the temperature gauge was pegged.
- COURTESY INSPECTION FOUND:
- Water pump replaced as approved. Recommend at least two coolant flushes at this time to attempt to remove contamination from coolant. Contamination is suspected to be automatic transmission fluid because the foamy coolant is pink in color. It is a possibility that when the transmission was topped off as noted by customer that the coolant reservoir was the destination of the automatic transmission fluid.
